In November 2024, Melody and Steve Golding displayed their dedication to education and veterinary medicine by establishing the Melody and Steve Golding Endowed Scholarship at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM). Their generous gift aims to support students from Mississippi, particularly those with financial need, who are pursuing careers in veterinary medicine.
The scholarship illustrates the Goldings’ passion for advancing the next generation of veterinarians, as well as recognizes the critical role of veterinary medicine in agricultural and rural communities across the state. The Goldings designed it to directly address these vital needs.
The Melody and Steve Golding Endowed Scholarship will be awarded annually to a Mississippi resident demonstrating financial need, with a preference for first-year students, focused on large animal practice. Recipients may also reapply for the scholarship in subsequent years, provided they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
The scholarship is structured as an open fund, allowing for future contributions from the Goldings or other donors. The Goldings’ commitment to alleviating financial barriers for students and encouraging their pursuit of careers that address critical needs in veterinary medicine benefits students, the college, and the state.
MSU CVM Dean Dr. Nick Frank expressed the college’s gratitude, stating, “We greatly appreciate the support Melody and Steve Golding provide for MSU CVM. Their new scholarship supports students interested in large animal practice, and our college continues to emphasize preparing students for this type of veterinary practice.”
The MSU College of Veterinary Medicine and the MSU Foundation extend heartfelt thanks to Melody and Steve for their support of education, veterinary medicine, and the future of animal health. Through their generosity, the Goldings are creating opportunities that will leave a lasting legacy at MSU and in the communities served by its graduates.
