MSU CVM is home to numerous programs, studies and projects that promote collaborative, multidisciplinary teams throughout the College and across the University campus, as well as nationally and internationally that investigate and identify solutions to the world’s most complex challenges. We are committed to finding creative answers through collaboration and innovation.
At present, the aquatic medicine experts with our Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish (Fish Innovation Lab) are leading a $15 million United States Agency for International Development (USAID) grant aimed at improving aquaculture and fisheries systems to enhance food safety and nutrition, production and their economic impact in developing countries. Scientists in the MSU Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) are investigating the relationship of pathogens and hosts through a $10.5 million NIH grant with a goal of developing new strategies to treat and control diseases such as listeriosis, malaria, staphylococcal infections and tick- and mosquito-borne illness. And, researchers in the MSU CVM Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) are, through additional NIH funding, working to develop novel antidotes for nerve agents.
