The College of Veterinary Medicine is hosting an event at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center (AERC) designed to provide an opportunity for continuing education for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
Attending this program can provide vets and vet techs up to six hours of CEUs. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by emailing the AERC here. This event is sponsored by Nutramax.
Seth Kettleman, DVM, MS, DACVS-SA is a Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeon and Assistant Clinical Professor of Small Animal Surgery at Mississippi State University's Animal Emergency & Referral Center (AERC) in Flowood, MS. A native of Ridgeland, MS, Dr. Kettleman provides referral orthopedic surgery services for dogs and cats in the Jackson Metropolitan Area and south Mississippi and instructs senior veterinary students during their clinical rotation at AERC. Cranial cruciate ligament disease is the most common cause of hindlimb lameness in the dog. Dr. Kettleman will review all aspects of cruciate surgery including anatomy, pathophysiology, diagnosis, surgical planning and execution, and common complications and how to avoid them.
Wendy Byrd, DVM, CCRT, CVAT is a Certified Rehabilitation Therapist and Assistant Clinical Professor at Mississippi State University's Animal Emergency and Referral Center in Flowood, MS. Dr. Byrd provides referral rehabilitation therapy, acupuncture, and chronic pain management for dogs and cats in the Jackson Metropolitan Area.

Kelsie Giles DPT CCRT is a Board-Certified Physical Therapist and Assistant Clinical Professor at Mississippi State University's Animal Emergency & Referral Center (AERC) in Flowood, MS. A native of Meridian, MS, Kelsie Giles provides referral rehabilitation services for dogs and cats in the Jackson Metropolitan Area and instructs senior veterinary students during their clinical rotation at AERC. Giles will discuss the importance of exercise as a dog ages for longevity and health. How does exercise change after having surgery? Dr Giles will also discuss the physiological changes with age as well as non-medicinal options for chronic pain.
