About this Event

The 2024 CVM Awards Ceremony program is quickly approaching.  Faculty and staff awards for exceptional service will be presented during this event on Wednesday, November 13 at 9am. Nominations for all awards are now being solicited. This is a special event in which we hope all faculty, staff, and students will be able to participate.

Keep an eye out for an email coming to you that will include the nomination form. Nominations are due October 16, 2024. You may submit your nomination form electronically to Caroline Griffith or you may mail them in an envelope marked "Confidential - CVM Awards Day." If you have additional questions, contact Caroline.

The awards that will be presented are as follows:

THE DEAN’S PEGASUS AWARD

The Dean’s Pegasus Award is presented by the dean of the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine to a person or persons who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in teaching, research and/or service on behalf of the university and college.  The selection of the recipient of this award will be made by the dean of the CVM.  The awardee may or may not be selected from the faculty of the college.

THE VICE PRESIDENT’S PEGASUS AWARD

The Vice-President's Pegasus Award is presented to a person outside of the university who has made significant contributions to the veterinary medical profession and who has benefitted MSU CVM.  The dean of the college and the vice president of the MSU Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine will select the recipient.  

THE PRESIDENT'S PEGASUS AWARD

The President's Pegasus Award is presented by the president of Mississippi State University to a person or persons who has/have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the various missions of the university, MSU CVM and the veterinary medical profession. The nomination for this award may, but not necessarily, be made by the dean and/or the vice president for the MSU Division ofAgriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine. The awardee may or may not be selected from the faculty of MSU CVM.

THE E. WYNN JONES AWARD FOR EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE

The Dr. E. Wynn Jones Award for Exceptional Service recognizes individuals who have provided exceptional service to the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Wynn Jones was among the first faculty in the CVM, and even after he retired, he worked tirelessly on behalf of the CVM, leaving a lasting legacy and example for all in the CVM family. The awardee will be selected by the dean of the college and may or may not be selected from the CVM faculty. This award is only presented when merited and, consequently, may not be presented every year.
